     Franklin continued working in construction until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 at age 19. He already had health problems that worsened in the Army and in late 1952 he recieved a medical discharge from the U.S. Army. At this time, Franklin made another promise to God that he would go into the ministry. But once again, when he was discharged from the Army, Franklin decided to go back into the business world instead. He was a hard worker and he learned fast so it wasn't long until he was a successful and well liked business man.

     One morning while on his way to work, Franklin collapsed in his truck while sitting at a stop sign. He was taken to a hospital in Atlanta, GA where the doctor told him and his family that he had a serious heart condition and would not live more than six months. Franklin and his parents cried out to God and Franklin promised God for the third time that he would preach the gospel if God would show him mercy. He accepted a miraculous healing from God and turned to his original call and promise - to preach God's Word. He has been preaching and ministering ever since.

     In 1961, Franklin married Carolyn Kersey and they have been married for 47 wonderful years. They will tell you proudly that each was a gift from God to each other. Franklin Sr. and Carolyn are the parents of three children, Newana Walden Nelms, Teresa Walden Baltzell and Franklin D. Walden, Jr. At the present time, they have three granddaughters and five grandsons between the ages of three and twenty-five years.

     For more than an entire generation Evangelist Franklin Walden, Sr. has dedicated his life to the anointed call of God and has preached the gospel around the world, now preaching primarily in the United States and Canada. He has allowed God to use him to bring salvation, deliverance, healing and other miracles to many thousands of people through his global, widely acclaimed, life-changing, miracle ministry. He has also helped scores of ministers to "sell out" to Jesus and is known as a "Pastor of Pastors" because of the number of Pastors he has mentored over the years. Dr. Walden has written over four hundred songs, many of which have been recorded, he has written sermonettes and pocket size books and tracts, as well as five published books which are entitled"The Greatness of God", "Guide Me Holy Spirit" "Take These Steps and Be Healed", "To Him Be All The Glory" and his most recent book entitled "The Unmistakable, Visible Anointing." In July of 2004, after completing his studies, Pastor Walden recieved a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Zoe University in Jacksonville, Florida. He is commonly known as Dr. Walden.

     Dr. Walden is still preaching in person, on radio broadcasts, by CD, tape and letters as well as in crusades. He has a newsletter that reaches over four thousand people per issue. Last, but not least, he is still writing books while making sure all the glory goes to God!
